Luana Adelina Pires, Luiza Pires and Ablay Sowe were able to speak no fewer than seven languages between them – but none of them held formal English qualifications.
Thanks to the Marches Education Partnership pre-employment course, they have now been able to secure positions as health care assistants.
After completing their 12-week module, the trio secured posts at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, and are now progressing onto a level three health and social care course.
The health and social care team at Shrewsbury Colleges Group said: “This has been life changing for them, as they would not have had this opportunity without the pre-employment course.
“Their roles as health care assistants will complement their studies. They all hope to progress into careers within the NHS as paramedics or nurses.”
