This course is ideal for

Motor vehicle technicians who want to know more about electric vehicle technologies and are considering undertaking higher qualifications to become a competent electric vehicle service and repair technician.

6 hours

How the course is delivered

1 day programme of 6 hours duration or 1 hour per week over 6 weeks.

Progression and benefits

The course will provide you with a fundamental understanding of the technologies associated with electric vehicles and provide you with the information required to make a more informed decision about progressing within the electric vehicle service and repair sector and the possible routes that are appropriate for your particular needs and circumstances.

It will also provide you with the confidence to showcase your skills and talents at application and interview for a motor vehicle apprenticeship programme.

Entry requirements

Applicant should have a keen interest in the electric vehicle service and repair sector and should be currently working or aspiring to work in the vehicle repair industry.

About the course

This part-time course provides an insight into studying at a higher level and the commitment involved.

Building on existing knowledge, it will develop your confidence in;

Understanding the fundamentals of electricity

Identification of the major components typically found in electric vehicles and their location

Interpretation of basic wiring diagrams

Identification of the hazards associated with electric vehicles

Awareness of the safe working procedures that should be followed when working on electric vehicles

Problem solving skills
